GPIO protection

Greetings Everyone,

I have a micro-controller system with GPIO interface.  It does not have input/output protection (a buffer).  The maximum voltage allowed is 3.3V and  it does not tolerate 5V.  Therefore I  am looking for current and voltage protection for its I/O pins, I2C and SPI pins.  Currently I am considering the following item:

ADG3300:  Low Voltage 1.15 V to 5.5 V, 8-Channel Bidirectional Logic Level Translator

Is there a break out board/ kit for it or something equivalent?  They do not have SIP package.

Does any one have a better solution for that?

I was also considering using a simple bi-directional multiplexer.  What do you think?

Of course, I am trying to be prudent with number of parts to use.

Thank you for your time.
