The given reference design of AD-FMCOMMS1-EBZ contains too many unnecessary things for me. Can I have a simple reference design just for making RF configuration and accessing to clocked sampled data.
There are over 650+ I2C/SPI registers on the board, which need to be programmed properly for anything to work. Without Microblaze, that isn't going to be easy, and like Rejeesh indicated - that is not on our plan/roadmap.
Also like Rejeesh said - 100% of the source (both software and HDL) is avaliable - you are free to modify things as you see fit to meet your design needs.
What do you think is "unnecessary"? Everything that is there is necessary to run the software that we have.
For example, if I want to filter the sampled data (based on a configuration
of the RF and sampling rate) by an FIR core generated by Xilinx's core
generator, I will only need the sampled signal with clock, and a simple
configuration RTL. Having the Pcore, DMA, and MicroBlaz as in the reference
design is counter-productive in this case.

Those components are there for a larger user community that run linux on these boards. We will not change or modify our reference designs for an individual purpose. However, you are free to modify the design as long as it interfaces to an ADI product.
