Does the AD9880 support 800x480 format?
First.. if this is a new design then you should be using ADV7842, not AD9880. AD9880 is a very old part (only HDMI 1.1) with very little support available.
800x480 in component? VGA? HDMI? DVI? What video standard/timing?
Most likely the answer is yes for ADV7842 or AD9880, but it's hard to say without more detail about what you are trying to do. No script or eval board support would be available for AD9880 though.
Thank you for your reply
Unfortunately The ADV7842 is a bit of a overkill
We only need VGA analog to RGB digital 8bits
Also we prefer non-BGA foot prints
Is there any other part you could recommend?

If you just want to digitize VGA then ADV7181D might be best depending on the highest video clock you want to support.
Thank you again
I think the RGB pixel format may not be compatible with my display
But is there a similar device to the ADV7181 that outputs RGB 6bits color (i.e. Red[0..5], green[0..5] & blue[0..5])?
None of our parts provide only 6 bits per component that I'm aware of. You would have to just strip off the MSBs or LSBs of 8-bits. You might look also at AD9983A: http://www.analog.com/en/audiovideo-products/analoghdmidvi-interfaces/ad9983a/products/product.html
It's an older part too with limited support but it has no more recent replacement. I think it's still 8-bit at the bottom end though.
I think I will still use the AD9880 since I have the schs for the eval board
I hope this part does not become obsolete soon
Thank you for all your help
AD9880 has the same limitations as the other parts and additionally there is very little support for it if you run into problems.
