AD7738 SPI PIC18f2550

Hi. I am using AD7738 which is SPI interfaced to PIC microcontroller. pic18f2550. To establish SPI communication(24 bit conversion), can you please tell me the sequence in which specific registers of AD7738 have to be configured, to write SPI commands via the micro controller. I think the only registers which need to be configured are - Communications register, Mode register, Channel setup register, I/O port register, ADC status register(with RDY function bit), channel status registers, channel conversion time registers..

All of this in continuous conversion mode, for 24-bit conversion, clamp bit enabled(and also dump mode) at +/- 2.5 volts. I am skeptical about the default address values, do i need to use the same values given in the datasheet, or to change the default values according to the mentioned configuration here.
