I'm planning on buying an adsp-21478 ezbrd and I have a HPUSB-ICE emulator.
Is it possible to program the device's internal rom using the emulator and then boot it from internal rom as a standalone board?
I have moved this question to the Hardware Tools community, as it relates to the EZ-Board specifically (I assume you mean 21479 EZ-Board, as per the title, as there is not 21478 EZ-Board).
You cannot program the internal ROM of the SHARC processors - this can only be done in during the manufacturing process (and is subject to minimum numbers, ROM masking fee, etc).
The 21479 EZ-Board does have both a external Parallel and external Serial Flash, which can be programmed using the Flash Programmer Utility in VisualDSP++ or the Command Line Device Programmer (CLDP) in CrossCore Embedded Studio. The Parallel/Serial flash can be used as a boot source to boot the board stand-alone.
