i am working with a ADIS16334 IMU. I cant't find out what the linear acceleration bias compensation for gyroscopes (MSC_CTRL) does. Can you explain me what this setting / function is used for?
This function uses the accelerometer measurements to correct for the linear-g effect on the gyroscopes. The specifications in Table 1 of the ADIS16334 datasheet assume that this function is enabled. I hope that helps and will be glad to continue the discussion if this doesn't cover any specific details that you are seeking.

I'm just wondering why this is an option, and in such case why it's disabled by default. (specifically on ADIS16364 and ADIS16405 parts).

Please note that in "device configuration" section (page 10) there's the same errata I've told you time ago for the ADIS16364, regarding the flash update command code (must be DIN=0xBE08).
I think the PRODUCT_ID in table 8 is also wrong, please check this out.
In the "output data registers" section, paragraph above table 9, must say "about the x-axis".
We are not aware of any disadvantages associated with this correction loop, but still wanted to make the option available. When we first started developing IMU products, we were not sure if this would be preferred. Our understanding and experience has evolved to the point where we tend to suggest that this stay on, unless the customer has a strong preference to incorporate this function into their own system.
