Self-boot problem

So, I connected my 1701 mini board to the external power, but every time I unplug USB, in spite of the presence of power and green light on the board the DSP stops producing any sound on the output. So probably I have to self-boot it, right?

The problem is, I did everything described in the guide, but when I make a right-click on adu1701 in hardware configuration and press "write to eeprom" SigmaStudio says "parameter -no name- not found, ask analog devices for help" and then "usb link failure, check cable" and then "unhandled exception occurred,  unable to cast object Sigma100.DSPSigma100 to type ADICtrls.E2PRom" and then the program crashes. SO what to do?? the s5 switch on the board is in down position. Just how to make the DSP retain the firmware in memory to allw me to disconnect USB?

Sorry it is probably a silly question but I really do not understand what to do.
