i need to generate a periodic sweep using AD9910 eval board i have shown the settings for single sweep below
what are the additional settings that i have to add to make the sweep periodic?
If using the DRG, the only periodic sweep you can do with the eval software is if both no dwell bits are set. In this mode the part will continuously ramp up, then down, then up, then down etc., going back and forth between the two limits.
Instead of the DRG, you could also use the RAM and it's continuous bidirectional mode or continuous recirculate mode but you would be limited to 1024 steps. The eval board user's guide UG-207 explains a little bit about how to load files to RAM on page 14. There should also be a few Q&A sessions on the forum here if you need additional help such as http://ez.analog.com/message/21163#21163 and http://ez.analog.com/message/27997#27997.
what if i do it this way, i am getting a periodic sweep by checking the Auto clear Digital Ramp Accum & Load DRR @I/O Update and by using the I/O update ... can i use it this way or is there any problem?
I had forgotten the AD9910 could clear the digital ramp accumulator. I was recently helping someone who was looking to do the same thing with the AD9959 eval board but unfortunately that part does not have this feature.
I think you might be able to do what you want using Automatic I/O_Updates, although I've not tried it so I can't say for certain. I'll ask with DSB to see if he knows if this will work or not. If you have an eval board you can certainly just test it and see if it works.
I don't know if you need both the 'Load DRR @ I/O_Update' and 'Autoclear Digital Ramp Accumulator' bits set. From the descriptions, maybe having just one of them set would be enough?
Thank you will be waiting for your confirmation.
Yes, the AD9910 will sweep in that mode. However the DRCTL pin needs to be set high to enable the sweep.
