BF533 Supervsiory bit

The manual is a bit confusing about supervisor mode

1 part says always in user mode unless in interrupt or exception and the only way to check whether in supervisor mode is to look at the state of IPEND

Another part says that you can exit the boot sequence in supervisor mode.-- Listing 3-2. Staying in Supervisor Mode Coming Out of Reset

The later is true since putting sysreg_read(reg_RETX) code in your main( ) does not cause a processor crash

So the simple question is -- is there a register bit that tells me whether I am in supervisor or user mode. VDSP help does not make any suggestions

Why do I want to know about this bit?  I have code where something is switching me out of supervisor mode into user mode so examining SEQSTAT is causing the system to crash. I am trying to trace the code and find out when the switch to user mode occurs.
