I have to develop the application initially through MATLAB. The output of MATLAB should be connected to Blackfin processor. I would like to know the feasibility of this combination. Can anyone guide me.
Yes, Matlab and Simulink can be used to connect to Blackfin (and SHARC) processors. Mathworks have a Webinar on this topic located here.
This isn't something we directly support, so if other users here on the EngineerZone are not able to offer any advice, you should contact Mathworks for any additional information you require.
I would also recommend looking into their "MATLAB Coder" tools, which can generate C/C++ code based on your MATLAB models, that can then be compiled by the VisualDSP++ tools.
wow.. Great.. It seems that Blackfin has more features inbuilt. Thanks for your words. It gave me good idea
You might try AMI Designer from AMI Technologies (http://www.amitekh.com) as well to grab the data from Blackfin/SHARC to Matlab and vis versa.
Apart from the real time audio and optimized modules generation on ADI processors it also supports the external interface over the tuning interface. On Evaluation kit we can use the UART/SPI/USB for this purpose. AMI Designer is using one of the tuning interface for this purpose. We can even grab the data on real time using this model and do some house keeping tasks in Matlab.
