ADV7800 suggested handling

the ADV7800 datasheets detail the usage of registers, and the I2C scripts provide register settings for most of the SD, ED and HD consumer video formats.

However nowhere says what is the "standard" way of handling the chip, I mean mostly when a given input is selected (CVBS,YC,YPBPR), some software would wait for syncs to appear, then when they appear, try to detect the incoming video format, and then write the settings for that video format. If format changes or syncs are lost, then repeat and try again. But there is no example for this, and the process seems different wheter receiving video with the Component Processor (CP) or SD Processor (SDP). Any source code available (we have NDA) ?
