I have a customer
that is doing development of control code for the ADF4350, for a proprietary
project for his client. He was able to work with the ADF4350 eval board using
the supplied AD control software. They are working to develop their own
software to control the ADF4350 and has a few questions:

1. He wants to supply
his own 3-wire (SPI) control signals using his own microcontroller. Can he
simply connect his micro to the eval board SPI connector pins without modifying
the eval board? He already tried this, and was successful at controlling the
state of reg 5 of the ADF4350, but the other registers (regs 4,3,2,1,0) do not
behave consistently. He thinks he may be missing something.

2. Do you have any
applications notes that may provide guidance on the programming of the ADF4350?

3. Is there a way to
query the ADF4350 to see what is stored in its registers?
