We use Visual Source Safe 6. We have several VSS databases. I'd like to use VisualDSP's SCC features, but it's checking the files out of the wrong VSS database. How do I specify the path to the correct database?
If it's not automatically shown then you should be able to get to this dialog by selecting Project->Source Control->Options... and then clicking on the Advanced... button towards the bottom of the page. I believe that changing the database in this dialog should direct the IDDE to perform all subsequent operations from that DB rather than the old one that you're connected to now.
Hope this helps,
It's been many years since I've used VSS but my recollection is that at the time you are prompted to enter your username and password you should also have the ability to select the database that you'd like to connect to similar to this:
The VisualDSP++ IDDE relies on the underlying source code control system to provide the ability to choose the repository (VSS in your case) but from what I remember this should be the case. I took a look through our bug database and didn't see any known issues related to this capability. Is this not the behavior that you see on your system?
I don't see the login box you referred to.
I'm not prompted to enter my username and password.
I select a provider from Project->Source Control->Select Provider.
Microsoft Visual SourceSafe is on the list.
I click OK.
I can open the source safe app, and open a database from with in it. But
VisualDSP++ opens the old database we used to use, and not the "new"
database we started using a year or so ago.
How can I bring up the log in prompt from with-in VisualDSP?
Where does it keep the database it wants to connect to?
It's connecting to an obsolete database. So if I use VisualDSP' to manage
the source control, I don't get the latest versions of the code, and my
changes don't get logged into the database.
I was able to select the "Use default" button and then mychanges showed up in the correct database.
