I want to detect short (10ns) nsec pulses (500-1500MHz range) using a log detector. The pulses amplitude range is from 1mv to 1volts.
Any such device that can do this?
I would recommend AD8317 or AD8318. These devices have varying detection ranges and pulse response times that are in the 10 ns range. AD8318 has the most sensitivity and can detect signals down to around -60 dBm (630 uVpp). Its rise and fall times are 12ns and 10ns respectively. AD8317 has slightly faster rise/fall time (10ns/6ns) and can detect pulses down to approx -55 dBm (1.1 mVpp).
a few years ago I've used the AD8312 to measure RF pulses up to 3GHz (a little bit above the spec)
