Minimum Acceleration

The ADXL325BCPZ accelerometer is listed as having a minimum acceleration of ± 5g's. However, its data sheet also states that it can measure the acceleration of gravity for tilt-sensing applications, which has a magnitude of only 1g. What exactly does "minimum acceleration" entail when used to describe an accelerometer?
