using VDK

I'm working on a project to implement a system of smoke detection from encoding information. Indeed, the smoke detector considers the existence of smoke in the scene from DCT coefficients generated by the MJPEG encoder. Sensor and encoder operate in tandem.

I successfully implemented in a DSP Blackfin the smoke detector in assembler. However, I can't make the implementation of both algorithms on the same architecture.I think I need to use either a dual core DSP or an RTOS? is that right?

I saw that with the tool VDK, we can develop an RTOS but my problem is that I have not enough time to complete my project? Please what is the most suitable? could I easily  learn VDK and use it in the shortest possible time?
