ADI_FAT power failure tolerance

I am using VisualDSP++ 5.0 update 9.1

Target processor is the BF518

I am using an eMMC (Sandisk SDIN5D2-2G) and the ADI_FAT FSS to record info.

I have noticed that on power failure during writing to a file using the stdio file functions (fopen, fwrite, fclose) it is possible that open files are lost.

This is not a big issue.  However I want to be sure that existing files that are closed are not lost.  I guess this comes down to the following:  is it possible that the FAT gets corrupted by a power loss during writing to a file?
