Impulse Response .dat File

Ok, I think that this would be relatively easy, but I can't seem to find much of what I'm looking for.  I should point out that I'm fairly accomplished in c++, but have never done DSP or worked with black fin for that matter.

BUT....

I'm using a BF537 EZKit Lite, and I have two .dat files with ascii made from a a recording of an impulse response.  What I want to do exactly, is use the .dat files as an impulse response to convolve with someone speaking into the mic input.

I'm using the C_Talkthrough as a starting point, and I've looked through all of the examples and can't seem to find a way to import the data files into an array and convolve it with the streaming input.

Are there any suggestions or other examples that are available for me to follow?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

RM
