If I use (3) ADXRS453, instead of the ADIS16334, without any calibration, what performance differences can I expect?

- The ADXRS453 enables a low noise, 3-axis system, on a planar PCB structure. In comparison to the gyroscope cores in the ADIS16334, it offers next-generation noise, bias stability and linear acceleration rejection. The ADIS16334 offers a fully calibrated and aligned, six-degree of freedom, inertial sensor, in a convenient package that only requires a mating connector and four machine screws for installation. From a specification/performance perspective, the key items of difference would be in the areas of noise/stability, bandwidth, acceleration response and cross-axis sensitivity. These parameters are summarized in the table below. Be sure to give consideration to the entire integration process and to all critical perfomrance criteria when selecting between these two options. Here are a couple of examples that may not be obvious from doing a quick specification comparison:
- For a control loop that has a 20 Hz bandwidth, using the wider-bandwidth device will lower the phase impact from ~11.7 degree to 2.7 degees.
- For a stabilization system, that experiences +/-45 deg/sec of motion one axis, using the fully-aligned product will reduce the off-axis error from 1.35 deg/sec to ~0.04 deg/sec.
