Have registers to turn off AD9388A equalizer function?
I don't see any unfortunately. Why?
Actually, the question is mine.
I use a HDMI switcher TMDS442 (4 in, 2 out) connected with AD9388A in the same PCBA.
Recently, my customer use an adaptor - "Display port to HDMI converter" plug into any input channel of TMDS442, then AD9388A can decode the HDMI signal. While "the Adaptor input " is connected with any Display Port output. Our system works properly.
However, they found problem when disconnected with Display Port output, ie. they connected only Adaptor with TMDS442. Up to now, it seems it doesn't matter with AD9388A.
Next, I watched register of AD9388A. I always found the values of them are unstable.
1. STDI DVALID in USER map 0xB1
2. VIDEO_PLL_LOCKED in HDMI map 0x04
3. DE_REGEN_FILTER_LOCKED / VERT_FILTER_LOCK in HDMI map 0x07 / 0x07
I asked TI for help, They told me TMDS442 plus 8dB on its output. In this way, I think If I can disable AD9388A EQ, I may have the chance to solve this question. Do you have any ideal ?
I don't know if this is your problem, but I was able to find out how to bypass the EQ in that port (it's an old one... is this an old design?)
It's User Map 2, F0. Set to 1 to bypass.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work. I think mine is not an old one.
Anyway, thanks for you help.
If this is not an old design... it would be MUCH better to use ADV7842. More limited support is available for older parts like ADV9388, I would not recommend it for new designs.
Got you, thanks.
