I have tried to change output vertical frequency from 60Hz to 30Hz at 480p output by above register but it seemed no effect. How can I use this register?
As discussed on the phone yesterday we would like to close this item off. I have been in regular communication with our designers about this, and have tried the setup with varying success.
Firstly, the above register applies only to inputs of 720p and 1080i.
IPDC provided me with the attached script which calculates and writes values to the Scaler Word in the IO map as well as to Talon. You should run this script after running your regular setup script. The memory interface needs to be correctly setup and FrameTBC enabled.
So with an oscilloscope I was able to see that the VS frequency changes successfully from 60Hz to 50Hz, 30, 25 and 24Hz.
However looking at the resulting video when inputting video which has a smooth top to bottom or left to right movement (example the scrolling text at the end of a movie), the picture was very jerky. This is due to the Frame TBC having to throw away frames to achieve the new frame rate.
So in my opinion the feature works but I would consider it suitable for only limited applications.
Actually I need the in/out video format are below.
Input CVBS (NTSC) and / or component 480i, digital 480i.
Output WVGA (800x480) / 480p(720x480) / 720p(1280x720) @ 30Hz
We will get you an answer for this asap
