I would like to control the RF output level of AD9789, there are Channel Gain Registers at 0x25~0x28 address.
If I set different gain value, can I get different RF output level (dBuV)?
The summing node and input scale values will affect the output power, but they are used to properly scale the digital signal prior to the 16x interpolating BPF and the DAC. You can better control output level by changing the full scale current (FSC). The nominal current setting is 20 mA, but the range is 8.6 mA to 32 mA.
If the FSC range is not enough, then using a variable gain amplifier after the AD9789 is always an option.
The better solution for output level control is to add a VGA after RF out of AD9789.
