I've recently upgraded to VisualDSP++ 5.0 from VisualDSP++ 3.5 or earlier. My license.dat file was copied over during installation, but only Simulator sessions are now available. Why?

VisualDSP++ 5.0 allows license.dat files from VisualDSP++ 3.5 and earlier versions to be copied over during installation. Unfortunately, VisualDSP++ 5.0 is confused by the now obsolete licensing package definitions contained in these files, and this results in only simulator sessions being enabled.
There are two ways to resolve this. You can either:
1) Copy the following 4.5 package definitions into your <install_path>\System\license.dat file, immediately after the existing 5.0 package definitions, or send us the file and we will do this for you.
# Begin PACKAGE Definitions for 4.5
PACKAGE FRIO-FULL analogd 1.0 683B3AB26229 COMPONENTS="ASSEMBLER-FRIO \COMPILER-FRIO LINKER-FRIO SIMULATOR-FRIO EMULATOR-FRIO \VDSP-DEBUGGER VDSP-IDE "
PACKAGE SHARC-FULL analogd 1.0 014150905895 \COMPONENTS="ASSEMBLER-SHARC COMPILER-SHARC LINKER-SHARC \SIMULATOR-SHARC EMULATOR-SHARC VDSP-DEBUGGER VDSP-IDE "
PACKAGE TIGERSHARC-FULL analogd 1.0 779024ACFA4D \COMPONENTS="ASSEMBLER-TIGERSHARC COMPILER-TIGERSHARC \LINKER-TIGERSHARC SIMULATOR-TIGERSHARC EMULATOR-TIGERSHARC \VDSP-DEBUGGER VDSP-IDE "
2) Move your existing <install_path>\System\license.dat file to another directory, then reinstall and revalidate your license serial numbers. The advantage of this method is that you can then take advantage of the new VisualDSP++ 5.0 feature of allowing VisualDSP++ to be used with Remote Desktop.
