plutosdr-fw, make, freezes

I using Ubuntu in Oracle VM VirtualBox on a Windows 7 PC.  I git and make the plutosdr-fw as follows:

git clone --recursive https://github.com/analogdevicesinc/plutosdr-fw.git
git pull --recurse-submodules

export CROSS_COMPILE=arm-xilinx-linux-gnueabi-
export PATH=$PATH:/opt/Xilinx/SDK/2016.4/gnu/arm/lin/bin:$PATH
export VIVADO_SETTINGS=/opt/Xilinx/Vivado/2016.4/settings64.sh
export SWT_GTK3=0
make

The make command runs a long time then hangs here:

vivado -mode batch -source system_project.tcl >> pluto_vivado.log 2>&1

I left it running overnight, but still there the next morning.  Had to force Ubuntu to shutdown.

Please help.  Thanks!
