Current through Input pin on ADuM2401

I am using ADuM2401 to interface with other external digital equipment. What will happen if my system is powered down while the external equipment is still turned on? There will in this case be 5V on the input pins on my ADuM2401 which may power the chip (and my system) through the clamping diodes. Is this assumption correct? Can I put a series resistor to minimize this current? How much current is acceptable through the clamping diodes? I can not find this figure in the datasheet or any application note...
