I'm going to design a FMCW radar for a project and was wondering which one is better to use to detect the receiving signal.
I believe that the normal approach is to mix the incident signal with the reflected signal to yield the low frequency product of the two signals. So I think you should be looking for a mixer.
Thanks. After the mixer, should there be an IF filter, followed by an IF amp, then a demodulator/envelope detector?
I believe that this is a fairly old-fashioned approach. I think that the norm nowadays is to sample the IF with and ADC and do the rest of the processing in the digital domain.
