EMI Shielding Chassis Ground Plane

Hi all,

I've been wondering if someone can give me some kind of reference to have a peek at about the correct dimensions of the "gap to avoid loop antenna" usually suggested when designing chassis ground planes for EMC. Beleive it or not if you have a look around you'll find plenty of people suggesting to add a gap to the chassis shield in order to avoid the loop antenna, but noone describing how it should be made.

Since black magic can be usually avoided with a little bit of immagination, do you think correct to size this gap in order to provide enough impedance so that the magnetically induced circulating current is below a given threshold?

Thank you for references and suggestions!

  Bye,

  R.
