SC589 locks up randomly when accessing L2 shared memory.

We have a problem.  When the ARM core0 accesses the shared L2 memory, after a few hundred accesses it randomly freezes the ARM for 10-20 seconds (seconds - not microseconds!), and then starts up where it left off and works forever without any further hitches (once it a while it will freeze again, but only 1/100 times run).  I know the whole ARM is locking up because it even halts the interrupts.  We are seeing an occasional exception 1023 during this time, which ADI labeled "spurious", and always returns to a point that the L2 memory is being accessed, so that is what I believe is causing it.

We have read all the ADI documentation from Data Sheets, Hardware Reference, Software Reference, ARM Reference, Griffin Errata and have tried everything.  I have been working on this for over a month now.

Thank you for any ideas.
