I would like to synchronize the receivers on multiple units for a MIMO type application. I have downloaded the schematic and layout files, but I was hoping there would be a few pointers here to get me started.

The AD9363 unlike the AD9361/4 doesn't support multichip synchronization.
The PlutoSDR doesn't route the RX2 and TX2 RF ports to connectors, this was done to save additional cost.
The only thing you can do is to use a common reference clock source for multiple units, this will allow you to synchronize the frequency. But you will still have phase ambiguity on the BBPLL and RFPLLs. Check #PlutoSDR on twitter.
Ack! That's unfortunate...
There is still the option to use an external LO with the AD9363 though? Would that bypass the need for the RFPLL synchronization?

Is there a way to hardware trigger the Tx and Rx buffer push() and refill() operations? If multiple SDR units could be synchronized in this fashion, that might be a decent alternative.

There is a TDD core option. It can be synchronized by en external 1PPS signal for example.
Also there is no External LO option on AD9363 devices.
