I am to design a DSP system that is using ADAU1463 and SDATAIOx pins for supplementing the number of audio ouput ports to a number of 6 streams (2ch per stream in I2S mode). Since I want to minimize the number of total lines used I plan to use SDATA_OUT0 and SDATA_OUT1 and add two SDATAIO lines to each port.
So far so good but I have a bit of a trouble with the rev. 0 datasheet. Table 38 (page 54) shows that both SDATA_OUT0 and SDATA_OUT1 will output channels 0 and 1 in I2S mode, while the associated SDATAIO pins will output the channels 4-5, 8-9 and 12-13. Should I understand that SDATA_OUT1 and associated SDATAIOs are operating the channels 0-1, 4-5, 8-9 and 12-13 as defined in the first column of table 36? Or that those channels are in fact numbered in reference to each SDATA_OUTx? Then SDATA_OUT1 0-1, 4-5 etc. are actually 16-17, 20-21 and so on from table 36?
Another point: when using SDATA_OUTx and SDATAIOx is there a restriction to use I2S for a 2 channel stream? Can the 2ch stream be left or right justified as well?
