HMC3587LP3BE Gain Max at Vcc=3.0V instead of Vcc=5V?

I'm using the HMC3587LP3BE at 8.21 GHz. Why the Vcc does not match the data sheet?

Here are the Vcc values I have tried to power the amplifier separately from the rest of the board:

  • Vcc = 0 V, Control
  • Vcc = 3.0 V, Gain = +11.6 dB, Current draw = 10 mA
  • Vcc = 3.3 V, Gain = +10.9 dB, Current draw = 30 mA
  • Vcc = 5.0 V, Gain = +3.2 dB, Current draw = 130 mA

The relative gain values are different across the four amplifiers I have tested, but the amplifiers all have max gain at Vcc = 3.0 V.

Vpp is tied to Vcc across a 10 Ohm resistor. Shorting the resistor did not make a difference.

I have an input power range of -60 dBm to -80 dBm.
