We are currently using the ADRF6780 and HMC1113 eval boards with our USRP X300/X310 boxes, but want to eliminate the double upconvert/downconvert using our ADRV9371-W/PCBZ boards
Even with ADRV9371 still you need to down-convert/up-convert to Ku band as the frequency range is 300-6000 MHz.
The goal is to bypass the default analog upconverter/downconverter components that are on the daughterboard and only utilize the upconverter/downconverter capability that is on the Ku band upconverter/downconverter eval board. Thus, minimizing the number of up/down frequency conversions from the ADC/DAC and PA/antenna assembly.
What do you mean by daughter board? Are you referring to ADRV9371-W/PCBZ EVB? If it is AD9371 EVB there is no seperate up-down converter it is part of chip and cannot be bypassed.
Please note that in the original posting, I stated that we are "using ADRV9371-W/PCBZ evaluation board with the ADRF6780 Ku band upconverter and HMC1113 Ku band downconverter". Thus, the desire to know how to best bypass the default RF frontend on the ADRV9371-W/PCBZ evaluation board. The goal is to do only one single up/down convert between the antenna assembly and the ADC/DAC components.
On chip mixers cannot be bypassed. You can look for direct RF ADC/DAC which suits your application and BW.
