As LTC 2984 allows measurement of certain predefined sensors. I want to include my own sensor. How should i do it. Is it possible to do it through Direct ADC measurement?
The LTC2984 supports a few different ways of adding additional sensors in addition to doing a direct ADC measurement.
For a voltage-out sensor you may find the custom thermocouple information applicable. This will let you input a table of up to 64 (mV, Temp) table entries. The part will do a cold junction compensation and optional open-circuit detection like for a standard curve thermocouple.
Likewise you can do custom resistive sensors as Thermistors and RTDs - both are supported by tables of Ohms-Temp. Finally there is a custom Thermistor option that will allow the input of Steinhart-Hart coefficients, saving memory space for other custom sensors.
These methods are described in the datasheet starting on pg 65 - they will all do linearization and output in degrees C or F. A direct ADC measurement will give you voltage and then you will need to do the temperature linearization/conversion on your host micro.
