Sorry for my delayed response. I am attaching a python script you can use with the remote control feature of ACE to control the part and pull back data. For more information on getting started with the remote control feature, you can click Help-->Remote Control Interface Documentation inside ACE. To use the feature, you interface from Python to a .NET DLL. You'll need to install pythonnet. If you use the python package manager, you can use "pip install pythonnet" from command line to get it.
As far as customizing the FPGA, I think we can share the FPGA code with you as-is with no guarantees. I'll share the link to your post with someone on the FPGA team. If you still want to use the board with ACE/Python, you would need to leave all of the existing FPGA registers/features intact, but you could add logic.

Are you looking to interface to the board from another application/language/environment (e.g. MATLAB)? We can't offer the source code to the ACE application itself, but may be able to help you accomplish what you need to do.

Yes, we are looking at possibilities to use Python. Is ACE developed with C or Matlab?
Also we are looking at adding some new logic to FPGA (on AD9208_ADS7v2) and wondering how an user (via USB port from PC) can control (e.g. via a register write) the logic. From ADS7 schematics, it seems that an user can only communicate with FPGA via Blackfin, right? I think access to ACE source code may help us to figure it out.
