How to use this DEMO-KIT, and is there need to programing the ADSP of this evaluation board? And i've installed the AVES3. Does it need to install any other software or programing the ADSP(BF524)?
There is no need to program the BF524, The application code is in FLASH and controls the ADV7612 and ADV7511 on power up. AVES3 provides a method to examine and modify the registers after the BF524 has booted.
Thanks for your information. But i've some wondering question as below:
1.I powered up the evaluation board and connect with PC by USB, open the AVES3 softeware and connected use USB, load the leatest script file (AVES3_Folder-EVAL-ADV7612-7511 from Advantiv™ EVAL-ADV7612-7511 Video Evaluation Board ), but when i input video signal from desktop mainframe to ADV7612's port A and output to a screen(output signal from ADV7511's output), there nothing display on the screen. I checked the ADV7612's output with a digital scope, there's no signal(such as: LLC/VS/HS/DE sognal) and the the SCL/SDA is no scope too(the jumper is used default setting). And when plug in HDMI cable the ADV7612's&ADV7511's port A's indicate LED can work normal,
2.I read the UG-295 file and it note that can use Tera Term to u-boot our evaluation borad. so i use and Tera Term (4.9.7 version) to load the u-boot bin file(7612_7511_LR1.55RC2_20120611.bin from Advantiv™ EVAL-ADV7612-7511 Video Evaluation Board ), when i finshed step 6, the dialog window note that the load total size is o byte. And the details shows in a picture.
The customer want to use our evaluation board to implement input HDMI signal(to ADV7612) and can output(with ADV7511's ouput ) it normally with our board. So hope you check and kindly help to give some advices.
First of all do you have a non-P or -P board. The -P board has no keys and the application code will run slightly differently.
Regardless, both boards should have the correct application already loaded.
With TeraTerm connected to the serial port, power cycle the board. Power cycle the board
There should be some uboot output similar to the above before the 'bfin>' prompt.
Let the count down complete
Uboot should then launch the application code.
If you have a -P board, enter 'startrep' and the application will then actually start handling the video
If you have a non-P board (keyed) then the application will auto-start when uboot launches it.
If you need to reprogram the application then you need to stop the count down before it completes.
Only after the application is running AVES 3 can be started. AVES3 requires the application code to access the registers.
I used EVAL-ADV7612-7511(with HDCP) for our experiment and i used serial port to connect TERA TERM.
About "There should be some uboot output similar to the above before the 'bfin>' prompt.". Yes, there's some prompts in the dialog window and i'checked is similar to the UG-295 file instruction. But the instruction different after the step 6.
So, is needed to upgrade the application firmware or not? if i erased the flash by step 7&8(UG-295) way, is there any impact for our board work ?
As your advice, is it mean that just powered up for the board and open the AVES3(finish load script file and set the connection correctly),he board can work ok?
Is there any Video tutorial for EVAL-ADV7612-7511 ?
After the count down what does the terminal display?
After the count down at step 6 shos below:
After you enter 'loady' you must immediately do a teraterm File->Transfer->YModem with the correct bin file.
Sometimes if you take too long between the 'loady' command and Ymodem command the protocol will time out and end the download early. Give it several tries with loady and Ymodem. At some point you should begin seeing the percentage count from step 6.
We ship all boards with the application installed. You should not have to reprogram the application. How did you delete the application?
Also who is this customer you are working with. If the customer is not an HDCP adopter you can not give them the board.
About the loady i was followed the UG-295 file's prompt step by step. At step 6,i've tried about 6 or 7 times(teraterm File->Transfer->YModem->send 7612_7511_LR1.55RC2_20120611.bin from Advantiv™ EVAL-ADV7612-7511 Video Evaluation Board) but there still show the same result.
After step 6,when shows bfin>. I input step 7&8 command to erase the application. Is it erase application truely or not ? if it true,is there any impact for our board work?
At this point I am not sure what you can't reload the application code. Personally I would just replace UBoot on the the board and then load the application back in. You probably don't have the tools to do this. So I'd suggest just RMA'ing this board and getting another one to work with. The replacement board will have the application already installed and ready to run. Let's get you back to a known good board.
The customer is an HDCP adopter. For future reference HDCP adopters can be found here
HDCP Adopters | Digital Content Protection
Only license adopter can have keyed boards like the EVAL-ADV7612-751-SMZ
Keyed boards will auto-run the application code with the repeater functionality turned on.
non-Keyed board require 'startrep' command to the application to turn on repeater code functionality
AVES3 can only be used after the application code is up and runing
AVES3 sends a 'stoprep' command on connection to the target.
Ok, thanks for you advice and I’ll work on to get a new one to work with. Thanks for your great support.
