Could it be possible to use something like an i.MX6 Cortex-A9 Processor module instead of the Xilinx FPGA based solution?

During the R&D / Experimental stages of our Project for the development of a new equipment,

we have been using a ZC706 Evaluation Kit with an AD-FMCOMMS3-EBZ module attached to it.
Now we have come to the point on which we need to move on from the Evaluation Kit boards, to the development of

the actual boards that will be working on our products. With this in mind, we have the following questions:
1. Could it be possible to put together a solution based on something like an i.MX6 Cortex-A9 Processor module to do

    the job that the ZC706 Eval. Kit is doing now?

2. If so, are there any reference designs that we could use for our implementation?
3. Has anybody done some like this?

4. In case it were not possible to replace the Xilinx FPGA based solution by another Cortex-A9 based platform,
what would be reason(s) for such non-feasibility?
