*** Attempt to read from non-existent memory *** with PC at: 0xf5552
what does this mean??i loaded an example for a 469 board , VDSP++5 update 10 and it gives me this error
This message can indicate a couple of things. For example that the address specified is outside of the memory range defined or that an undefined symbol was used.
Can you tell me which session you are connected to i.e. emulator, simulator or EZ-KIT, and which example you are using when you encountered this error message.
Please note that each example is provided with a Readme.txt file which provides guidlines's on how to set up your board and VisualDSP++ in order to use the example correctly.
SPDIF to Analog TalkThru with SRC (C)
for 469 EZboard
I did read the read me ,
one mroe thing : eroor came after once or twice trying the code
I've just tried running the 'SPDIF to Analog TalkThru with SRC (C)' example on a 21469 EZ-Board with VisualDSP++ 5.0 update 10 and do not encounter any problems.
Can I get you to try recreating your session on VisualDSP++ start up by pressing and holding the 'CTRL' key on your keyboard. After a short while the 'Session List' window will appear. Select New Session. In VisualDSP++ 5.0 the 'Session Wizard' will open. Select the Processor Family, Processor, Connection Type and Platform. When recreating an existing session the session name will be appended with a number, as you can see in the 'Select Platform' screen. Remove this number and click finish. You will be prompted to replace your existing session. Select yes, then connect to this session by hitting 'Activate'.
If after recreating your session you still encounter the same problem please can you provide the following information:-
How are you connecting to your board, is it via an emulator or via the debug agent?
What's the board, BOM and silicon revision of this board? The Board revision is typically silk screened on the front of the board, while the BOM revision is a sticky label on the back of the board (only newer EZ-KITs have the BOM number sticker). The silicon revision is printed directly on the processor.
Can you provided a few steps so that I can reproduce this problem and can you confirm exactly when you encounter this error?
I can't recreate it , it is [pretty random thing.
i am using a debug agent and once i am able to recreate ( not re encounter) the problem i will try to recerate it according your instructions.
should i for time being close this thread??
no need to close the thread; just let us know once you have a chance to follow Colin's advice above.
I encountered the similar problem/error in simulator mode. When I try to load the program, I get the following error : "*** Attempt to read from non-existent memory *** with PC at: 0xf5552"
I am using ADSP-21489 ADSP-214xx Simulator session. I am having Visual DSP++ 5.0 update 10 version.
When I connect to session 'ADSP-21489 EZ-KIT Lite via Debug agent' then I am able to load the program. But after 2-3 successful runs program gets halted.
Thanks in advance
This may depend on the project you are attempting to run. While the Simulator is feature rich, it does not simulate all peripherals available on the EZ-KIT Lite, for example. So, in the case of the Audio Talkthrough example mentioned by the original poster, this would not run on the Simulator, as external peripherals such as the audio codec are not simulated.
As your code works fine in hardware, I would recommend simply using that, as you have it available.
If you believe your application should work in the Simulator, please provide a complete example project. You can do so via private support through the link below. Please be aware that some ADI offices are on shutdown over the festive period, so response may be somewhat delayed.
