What is the best way to model the HMC939A digital inputs using spice?
HMC939A has ESD specification of HBM Class 1A. You will need to use system level protection circuits for enhanced ESD protection level of HBM Class 3. Unfortunately, we don't have SPICE models of HMC939A for simulations.
I am adding external circuitry to limit ESD voltage into the HMC939A digital inputs. I need to pass HBM class 3.
As is my filter limits the voltage at the digital inputs to 9.5V for a duration of 0.5uS.
What is the maximum voltage I can put into the digital inputs, since the digital inputs are rated to HBM class 1?
HMC939A could degrade reliability when 9.5V is applied to digital pins for a duration of 0.5us. I would recommend to reduce the maximum voltage below VDD + 0.5V which is absolute maximum digital voltage rating in datasheet.
This part has been validated and can survive and esd event of HBM class 1?
Yes, all 3 HMC939A samples stressed at 250V passed post ESD testing (includes both RF and DC performance parameters) so it is Class 1 in HBM ESD.
