Question
Ourl fall detector product uses the AD accelerometer ADXL362. The fall detector
ABS case is ultrasonically welded during assembly to provide a watertight seal.
Please can you confirm the ADXL362 is suitable for this assembly process. The
ADXL362 is not powered at this point.
If there is no definitive guidance then are you aware of other customers
successfully using an ultrasonic assembly process
Answer
Ultrasonic is always bad for MEMS parts because of its high frequency. But
there are many customers used ultrasonic welding for outer packing to seal the
product and there is no problem with our parts. There are many parameters in an
ultrasonic welding process that can be optimized to reduce the overall
vibration by changing the frequency, amplitude or duration of the weld. It
would be suggested to cooperate with the ultrasonic welding machine vendor to
do this.
