What is special about the ADIS16228?

Question

What is special about the ADIS16228?

Answer

Classic vibration systems use bolt-mounted piezoelectric sensors that provide
analog output signals on a threaded cable interface, which typically require
expensive cabling or wireless transponders for full connectivity in the factory
environment. For cabled systems, A/D conversion, signal processing and
monitoring mechanisms are typically in centralized processing systems. The
ADIS16228 includes all of these functions, at the point of sensing and makes it
available through a common SPI interface and alarm indicator signals. This
enables a simple, low-cost processor interface, which typically manages a
low-bandwidth wireless interface to communicate with central monitoring
systems.
