What side of the iButton is the temperature sensor located?

The sensor is integrated on the silicon chip and is physically located in the center of the iButton. The printed circuit board and battery act as an insulator (located closer to the flanged side), so the side without the flange transfers the temperature to the chip more effectively. However, either side of the iButton can be used for temperature measurement.
