What is the best way to connect to an AD590 in the flatpack package? It doesn't seem like the best idea to just solder wires to the pins.

Hi Wheeliedad ,
The AD590KF (flatpack) should be in good thermal contact with the component whose temperature they’re trying to measure. They can either clamp the AD590KF (ceramic side) to the component, or they can also use glue. They should just make sure that the glue is pliable and thermally conductive (e.g. Thermal Epoxy). The pins of the AD590KF should then be soldered to a surface pad on the PCB (surface mounted). The pins can be bent to shape ensuring that the ends of the pins are parallel to the PCB for proper electrical conduction.
