ADT7422 package

Question

1. Can you help me explain what a thermal pad is? 
 2. Figure 15 in the application note "Principle and Practical Technology of Temperature Measurement" shows a LFCSP package, which can directly connect GND in the chip to the metal plate at the bottom of the chip. Excuse me, does ADT7422 have this package?

Hi Jack Song, 
 My apologies for the late response. Thermal pad is used for thermal management. To get the best thermal contact you must connect the thermal pad or EPAD to the object being measured. 
 Yes, ADT7422 have that kind of package.
