Question:
Looking at the MAX4968 datasheet, the Ron is said to be between 18 ohms (typical) and 34 ohms. Is there a reason for such a tolerance ? Is it related to manufacturing, temperature or any other condition ?
Answer:
The Ron typically depends on the voltage at the terminals and the slew rate of the current (usually affected by the input parasitic capacitance). Its also affected by variations in the the manufacturing process such as the slight changes in material composition from one part to another and slight variation in the placement of pads which increases the effective length of the wire.
This variation isn't usually visible because most of the ICs have Ron in kilo ohms range. But since this is a specialized IC with low Ron, the effect of slight variations are more pronounced.
