FAQ: Can I use ADG330x for I2C applications?
Answer:
The ADG330x is not recommended for I2C applications. The ADG330x architecture shown in the Theory of Operation section of the datasheet uses an internal resistor to ensure the device operates correctly without a feedback loop.
When used to interface with a communication protocol that requires a pull-up resistor, a resistor divider network is created with the internal resistor and the pull-up resistor. It means that the output voltages cannot reach the required values.
For I2C applications, we recommend using the ADG324x family of parts, but these are limited in performing down translation.
