Hello,
I would like to use some audio switches for my audio application. As my ADC (the ADAU1761) is having a THD+N of -90dB (0.0031%) for the single-ended input, thus I am looking for audio switches with at least the same quality. They could be SPST or SPDT or dual SPDT or (maybe) quad SPDT but also DPDT or even SP3T switches.
Of course it is also important that they have a low On-resistance, for not generating suplimentary Johnson noise when switched on.
The input signal voltage is between 0,13525 and 2,75 Vp-p.
Extra question: What switches should be used when the input signal voltage is up to 17,5Vp-p?
I am looking forward for your response!
Thank you in advance.
Teodor
Hi Teodor,
Thanks for your inquiry.
Our ADG5412F has a THD+N of 0.0015%. This part has low Ron of typically 10 Ohms and ultra low Ron flatness of 0.5 Ohms Typ making it very suitable for audio applications.
If your signal voltage is up to 17,5 V, Again the ADG5412F can handle this input signal providing it is within the VDD/VSS range.
ADG5412F Datasheet can be found here:

Hello David,
thank you for your reply!
I've just checked the ADG5412F and I would kindly like to express my opinion to it. My application is meant to be for a portable device, so we only have single power-supply with a maximum of 10V (GND-10V) and for this condition your switch only has a THD of approx. 0.015%. But maybe this value is actually good for my application, as this switch is only meant to switch a pad resistor between the differential lines - so this component wouldn't be directly in my audio signal path, thus not coloring the signal that much, isn't it?
Secondly I don't really need such a big component (sorry for the confusing created with my previous msg), a single SPST should be sufficient! Further more I would also need a SP3T of the same quality.
Thank you very much for your support!
Kind Regards
Teodor Vasile
HI Teodor,
Thanks for the clarification,
For the single SPST request have a look at the ADG1401. Very low Ron & Ron flatness and this is available in a 8-Lead MSOP or 8 LEAD LFCSP package.
Details here: http://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/data-sheets/ADG1401_1402.pdf
Also we have the ADG5401, a similar part but provides extra robustness in the form of latch up immunity.
For the SP3T, Could you use 3 channels from a 4:1 Mux
We have an ADG1404 with very low Ron & Ron flatness and great on resistance matching between channels.
Details here: http://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/data-sheets/ADG1404.pdf
Also we have the ADG5401, a similar part but provides extra robustness in the form of latch up immunity.
In 4:1 Muxes we also have an ADG5404F which provides fault protection and detection but this may be overkill for your application.
Details of these parts and more can be found on the switch/mux section of our website http://www.analog.com/en/products/switches-multiplexers.html
Let me know if I can help with anything else

David
