LTSPICE Simulation

Thread Summary

The user is experiencing unexpected overvoltage behavior with the ADG2412 analog switch in LTspice simulations, where current flows to GND instead of VDD or VEE. The support engineer confirmed this is a model issue and plans to update the model. The user requires a low Ron, flatness, and high bandwidth for an NTSC analog video application, and is looking for an alternative model to check the ESD diodes.

Hi Team

I want to use the ADG2412 in my new design

The switch is used for analog video NTSC. The switch is the first component from the Coax cable.

There might be a case that my unit is powered off and there is still active video from the video source.

I want to protect the analog switch with external shottcky diodes.

I tried to simulate it with the LTSPICE but is seems that in over voltage case the current flows to the GND instead of the VDD or VEE

Is this a normal behavior? Is it a mistake in simulation model?

I attached the LTspice simulation.

Thanks

Roey

  • Hi  ,

I tested this part on my side and observed the same unexpected behavior. Based on my analysis, this appears to be a model issue, and we plan to update the model accordingly. Please note that this part was released several years ago and was not fully optimized, which may explain some of the observed behavior.

As a side note, we will be updating this model to align with our newer modeling standards. The updated model will include all channels and will specify the supply only in the first specification table, defined as a ±15 V dual supply with ±10% tolerance. If you require support for a specific supply condition, such as a ±5 V dual supply, please submit a request via email at angelo.floralde@analog.com.

  • Hi Roey,

In addition to Gelo's response about the modeling, I would just add that it might be worth taking a look at the ADG5412F. This is a similar switch with integrated overvoltage protection.

  • Hi David

Thanks for the advice the ADG5412F has 10ohm Ron which is too high.

I wanted the low Ron of ADG2412, Ron flatness and High BW (sufficient for my analog video application)

When will the ADG2412 LTspice model updated?

Can you suggest an alternative model for checking the ESD diodes?

    Regards,

    Roey

  • Hi Roey,

Apologies for the delay in replying. The ADG2412 update has already been released to LTspice.
