ADG451/452/453 Logic Power Supply?

Question

What is the Logic Power Supply input on these chips for? I can't say I've come across that on any other chip. It's not referenced in the datasheet, just stated that it's +5V. 
 I'm assuming that if I want to use 3.3V logic that I need to send this pin 3.3V, is that how it works? Basically just a reference for the logic level or does it require +5V to power something inside the chip?

Hi, Martin. 
 VL is the power supply for the internal digital logic. It sets up the digital input threshold levels of the device. 
 You can have a look at this Application Note to see how the Logic Power Supply (VL) voltage changes the logic threshold of the ADG451:
