We have some question about "5962-89710013A"
To help you understand the question, let me briefly talk about the facts.
Our company develops avionics equipment.
We need to obtain a part approval from our client company to develop the equipment.
During the part approval process, the client company said 5962-89710013X was not available. The reason is because of the wording on the "5962-8710 Military Datasheet". The text of the "Military Datasheet" is as follows.
"The lead finish shall be as specified in MIL-M-38510. Finish letter "X" shall not be marked on the microcircuit or its packaging. The "X" designation is for use in specifications when lead finishes A, B, and C are considered acceptable and interchangeable without preference."
So we inquired about the local distributor, "Analog World", on the ADI homepage to purchase the "5962-8710013A."
An analog World representative said that 5962-89710013X is checked, but "5962-89710013A" is not checked.
So we contacted ADI Technical Support to get the following answers.
"Hi Dae Jong,
5962-89710013X is not a valid part number. While ordering you need to order with valid part number like 5962-89710013A. Please contact our authorized distributor for your region – Sales and Distribution. Please do let us know if there is any delay in the response from the distributor.
COC will be provided along shipment.

We have forwarded this to the analog world manager.
They were also asked back to the main office and their answers were as follows:
"Re-check ADI system we have stock for 5962-89710013X, just this part is NCNR. For CICs reply part number is looks not active on our system, since I’m not familiar with material SPEC. Could you re-check with AWC FAE and customer for the MPN customer need before submit quote and order? Thanks!"
As mentioned above, we are confused because the CIC answers are different from the answers made by the local distributor.
So I'd like to ask you again as follows:
- We would like to know clearly if we can purchase parts for "5962-89710013A". (Because the CIC answers are different from the local distributor's)
- If we are able to purchase "5962-8710013A" parts, we would like to know how to purchase them. (Because it is not possible to check P/N on the ADI homepage)
- If we cannot purchase "5962-89710013A" and need to purchase 5962-89710013X, can we select "A"? (Refer to the Military Datasheet.)
- If satisfying with question 3, is it possible to mark "X" as "A" when issuing the Certificate of Compliance (COC)?
- If we can only purchase 5962-89710013X, is there any data to explain that 5962-89710013X is the same as "5962-89710013A"? (to persuade Our client company.)
We need the help of ADI and look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
