In the section simple opamps- summing section, fig -12,
a question is asked , “Does the amplifier appear to be amplifying?”..
it’s not amplifying ... could you give an explanation
I suppose you are referring to the Op-amps StudentZone article, "Figure 13.Summing amplifier waveforms."
In the Summing Amplifier Procedure section it is stated: "Configure the scope so that the input signal is displayed on Channel 2 and the output signal is displayed on Channel 1."
Therefore the orange trace is the output signal and the purple trace is the input signal.
As for the question "Does the amplifier appear to be amplifying?", since we adjust only W2 it will affect only the dc component of the output signal, while the amplitude will remain constant. You can have a look for the summing amplifier equation and replace the values from the article in it to have a different overview of the circuit.
